NDIS Personal Care Support

NDIS personal care is help with everyday self-care, like showering, dressing and toileting, so you can start and end each day with dignity. On Solotude, it’s provided by independent support workers you choose and message yourself.

What personal care usually includes

  • Showering, bathing and hair washing
  • Dressing, grooming and shaving
  • Toileting and continence support
  • Medication prompts and reminders
  • Getting in and out of bed, and other transfers
  • Help with eating and drinking
Good personal care is done with you, not to you. A good support worker follows your routine, asks before they help and leaves you to do what you can yourself. Because it’s so personal, things like gender, language and the way someone speaks to you can matter as much as their experience.

Who provides personal care?

Most personal care is delivered by support workers. If your care is more complex, a nurse may provide it or train your support workers. An occupational therapist can also help with equipment like shower chairs or hoists that make personal care safer.

Support workers

Provide most personal care, at home or wherever you need it. Many specialise in particular disabilities or ages. About NDIS support workers · Support workers in Sydney

Nurses

Provide or oversee more complex care, like catheter, wound or PEG care, and can train support workers to do some of it safely. About NDIS nurses · Nurses in Sydney
Every support worker on Solotude has their photo ID, ABN and NDIS Commission compliance records checked before they can connect with anyone on Solotude. Worker Screening Checks and Working with Children Checks are verified when provided, and you can filter by them. How we verify providers.

How much does NDIS personal care cost?

Personal care is usually paid from your Core Supports budget, under Assistance with Daily Life. Most participants can use this budget flexibly. The NDIS sets price limits for this support, and the rate depends on the time of day, the day of the week and how complex your care is. Evenings, weekends and public holidays cost more. Every provider on Solotude shows their rate on their profile, so you know the cost before you message them. For current price limits, check the official NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits.
