How Solotude works for families and carers

  1. Create a free account. Choose “Someone I’m helping” when you sign up. You don’t need their NDIS number. Create a free account
  2. Search by the support they need, their suburb and the times that suit.
  3. Look at profiles together. Photos, bios, experience and checks make it easier to talk it through with the person you support.
  4. Message providers directly. Ask your questions before anyone meets.
  5. When you’ve found the right fit, introduce the provider and agree the support in a service agreement.
Short on time? Post a job for free and let providers near them apply.

Keep the person at the centre

The NDIS is built on choice and control. Even when you’re doing the searching, involve the person you support as much as you can.
  • Ask what matters to them in a provider, like gender, language, interests or personality
  • Look at profiles together and let them choose where they can
  • Only share information about them that they’re comfortable with
  • Check in after the first few visits to see how it’s going

Finding support for a child

If you’re looking for support for someone under 18, look for providers with a verified Working with Children Check. You can filter your search to only see them. It’s also worth asking about their experience with children, how they involve parents, and whether they can work with your child’s school or childcare where that helps.

Every provider is checked

Every provider has their photo ID, ABN and NDIS Commission compliance records checked before they can connect with anyone on Solotude. Nurses, occupational therapists, physiotherapists and psychologists must also hold current Ahpra registration, and behaviour support practitioners must be registered NDIS providers. NDIS Worker Screening Checks and Working with Children Checks are verified when a provider adds them, and you can filter your search to only see providers who hold them. Qualifications, experience and insurance are self-reported and labelled that way. Full details are in our Verification Policy.

Your details stay private

Messages go through Solotude, so providers don’t see your phone number, email or address until you choose to share them. Job posts don’t show the participant’s name, address, NDIS number or diagnosis. Read more on safety and security.

Frequently asked questions

Can I search on behalf of someone else?Yes. Many families and informal carers use Solotude to find providers for children, partners, parents, siblings and friends. Choose “Someone I’m helping” when you sign up.
What if the person I support is under 18?Filter your search for providers with a verified Working with Children Check, and ask about their experience with children. A Working with Children Check isn’t mandatory on Solotude, so the filter is the quickest way to find providers who hold one.
Do I need their NDIS number to sign up?No. You don’t need to share an NDIS number to search, post jobs or message providers on Solotude.
Can I handle the conversations with providers?Yes. You message providers from your account, so you can ask questions and arrange things on behalf of the person you support, with their agreement.
How do I introduce a provider to my family member?Once you’ve found someone who seems right, share their profile with your family member and arrange a first meeting together. Many families start with a short trial session before agreeing to regular support.
Is it safe to find NDIS providers online? It depends on what the platform checks. On Solotude, every provider has their identity, ABN and NDIS Commission compliance records checked before they can connect with anyone on Solotude, and you can see exactly what has been verified on each profile.
