NDIS Overnight Support

NDIS overnight support means a worker is with you through the night, so help is there if you need it. On Solotude, you can find independent support workers and nurses who do sleepovers and active overnight shifts.

What overnight support usually includes

  • Help getting ready for bed and getting up in the morning
  • Repositioning, toileting or continence support during the night
  • Medication at set times
  • Support if you wake up unwell, anxious or distressed
  • Someone there for safety, so your family can sleep
Overnight support works best when your worker knows your routine well. It’s worth finding one or two regular workers, and writing down what you need at night so anyone covering knows what to do.

Sleepover or active overnight?

Type What it means
Sleepover Your worker sleeps at your place and is there if you need them. It suits people who need help only now and then during the night.
Active overnight Your worker stays awake all night. It suits people who need regular support or monitoring through the night.
If your worker is woken to support you during a sleepover, extra time can usually be claimed. If that happens often, active overnight support may suit you better.

Who provides overnight support?

Most overnight support is delivered by support workers. Where you need clinical care at night, a nurse may provide it or train your support workers to do it safely.
