NDIS nutrition support helps you eat well for your health and your disability, from meal plans to tube feeding. On Solotude, you can find independent dietitians who work with NDIS participants.
Texture-modified diets for swallowing difficulties
Tube and PEG feeding
Food allergies, intolerances and restrictive eating
Training support workers who help with meals
The NDIS funds the dietitian’s time, not your groceries. Food is an everyday living cost, though some specialist products, like thickeners or tube feeds, may be funded as disability-related consumables.
Who provides dietetics and nutrition?
Nutrition support is provided by dietitians. If you have trouble swallowing, a speech pathologist should be involved too. Your support workers can then follow the plan when helping with meals.
Every dietitian on Solotude has their photo ID, ABN and NDIS Commission compliance records checked before they can connect with anyone on Solotude. Accredited Practising Dietitian status with Dietitians Australia is highly recommended and shown as self-reported. How we verify providers.
Funding and cost
Therapy is usually paid from your Capacity Building budget, under Improved Daily Living. The NDIS sets an hourly price limit for each type of therapy, and it applies to time spent on assessments, sessions and writing reports. Therapists can usually also claim some travel time to come to you.
The NDIS price limit for dietetics has been reduced in recent years, so check the current figure in the official price guide. Many dietitians also offer telehealth.
Every provider on Solotude shows their rate on their profile, so you know the cost before you message them. For current price limits, check the official NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits.
