NDIS demand in the Northern Beaches

  • 4,526 NDIS participants live in the Northern Beaches council area, the most of any council in the North Sydney district.
  • It is an older community: the median age is 41 and 18.2% of residents are 65 or over, compared with 15.2% across Greater Sydney.
  • The 10 biggest providers receive 30% of NDIS payments in the North Sydney district, the most concentrated market in Sydney, so participants are often looking for independent alternatives.
  • With no train line and long distances from Manly to Palm Beach, local providers save participants long travel times.

Where you’ll find work

Participants post jobs and search for behaviour support practitioners across the Northern Beaches, including Manly, Dee Why, Brookvale, Mona Vale, Narrabeen, Collaroy, Frenchs Forest, Avalon, Newport and Palm Beach. Set your service area on your profile and you’ll show up in local searches.

What you can charge

Behaviour support is one of the few NDIS services that must be delivered through a registered provider, so families and coordinators look hard for practitioners they can trust.

What you need to get started

  • To be found suitable by the NDIS Commission. Until then you can’t complete behaviour support assessments or write plans, even under supervision.
  • To deliver through a registered specialist behaviour support provider (registration group 0110). That can be your own registration as a sole trader, or a registered provider who engages you as a contractor.
  • Solotude verifies NDIS registration for every behaviour support practitioner before they can connect with anyone on Solotude.
  • New to the field? Since April 2026 the Commission has an entry-level suitability pathway with a supervision agreement and a professional development plan.
